
BIOGRAPHY
Jonathan Beutler has a passion for public service and public libraries. In fact, his first job as a teenager was at the information desk of his local library! Currently, Jonathan serves as Los Angeles County Library Commissioner, appointed by unanimous vote of the County's Board of Supervisors. Previously, he served as a Beach Commissioner in Los Angeles County.
A former U.S. diplomat, Jonathan has broad experience in both the public and private sectors. In addition to having served in the United States Department of State, he has worked in the local business community in the South Bay for many years, having served as Chairman of the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and President of the Harbor City Harbor Gateway Chamber of Commerce, in addition to his service as an active volunteer in local schools.
Jonathan holds graduate degrees in Hispanic Literature from the University of Barcelona and in Public Policy from UCLA, and has completed fellowships with the Anti-Defamation League, the German Marshall Fund, and the U.S.-Spain Council.
Jonathan and his family are proud to call the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula "home"!
